AWARDS $25,000 TO BIRD STREET COMMUNITY CENTER
The Cummings Foundation has awarded the Bird Street Community Center a $25,000 grant to supplement the center’s Violence Prevention/Youth Leadership Programs. In result The funding will assist Bird Street in providing crucial programs to youth and young adults residing in Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.
Bird Street Community Center Youth Development programming, which will commence in October, with a primary focus on providing coping skills and solutions to social justice and gang violence, with dialogues between city and state officials in government and law enforcement. Additionally, Bird Street will offer Youth Leadership, College Exploration, Homework Assistance and Tutoring, and Basketball Skills and Drills. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment with adherence to Covid-19 restrictions to ensure the safety of our staff and youth that we serve.

1st Annual Fund-Raising Event
On Friday, October 20, 2017 Bird Street Community Center Held Its First Annual Fundraising Event Benefiting The Center And Its Programming at the Ames Hotel Boston. This Year, The Board Of Directors Honored Two Great Civic Leaders, Boston City Councilor Frank Baker And Massachusetts Representative Evandro Carvalho, Both Of Whom Have Made Significant Contributions To The Welfare Of Those Who Walk Through Bird Street's doors.

Bird Street Community Center’s 1st Annual Fundraiser was a huge success. Donors, Community Partners, Board Members, as well as Bird Street Staff Members came out in support of one goal, which was to raise contributions towards keeping our mission of providing a safe-haven for youth development of all ages alive and well in the Dorchester area. We also were in attendance to honor Boston City council Frank Baker and Massachusetts State Representative Evandro Carvalho who both received Community Achievement Awards for their dedicated service and contributions towards Bird Street Community Center over the past years.
